the MINDSET

  • I am only accepting new, beginner, and inexperienced students ages 10 and older. Individuals with prior training experience, current gym members elsewhere, or competition experience training may not be eligible. If you would like to be considered, you are welcome to contact us by email for review.

  • Private training is only available for kids that cant do the classes. The price for this will be different from the membership price.

  • My academy is more geared to teaching young teens and adults. Even though I do one on one sessions with kids that are under 10 years old, I feel that there are enough martial arts schools to focus more on the kids as a group class and not enough teen and adult classes, and that’s where I come in.

  • Our primary focus is learning Martial Arts and Self Defense. Training here is not centered on “fitness” trends, MMA, or competition. Competition opportunities are offered by me when I feel you are ready. Please do not request to compete unless it has been offered. I expect students representing my academy to demonstrate humility, discipline, and coachability.

  • Parents, to maintain a focused and respectful learning environment, I need you to observe quietly and allow coaches to lead classes without interruption. You are welcome to watch or return when class is finished. I will give honest feedback, behavior expectations, and skill evaluation to help students grow. There may be times when I will determine if our academy is not the best fit. These decisions are made with the student’s best interest in mind.

  • I am a small, private academy focused on personalized instructions. Most classes range from 4-10 students, allowing for more individual attention and coaching. If you are looking for a large gym with extensive fitness equipment or high membership volume, my academy may not be the best fit.

  • Active members are not permitted to cross train at other gyms without prior approval. This helps maintain a positive and respectful training environment for all academies involved.

  • Our academy is a place for training first and foremost. I do not allow cliques, exclusions, or negative behavior that disrupts the academy. I expect all to treat everyone with respect, kindness and authenticity. Toxic behavior will not be tolerated and will be banned from my academy. I have banned people before in my previous gym in Berkeley because of this nonsense.

Poster titled '7 Rules of Life' listing seven guidelines for living a positive life, including letting go, ignoring negativity, giving time, avoiding comparisons, staying calm, personal responsibility, and smiling.

The “7 RULES OF LIFE” quote that is on this page best represents on how I am and how my academy is. We have enough negativity going on in the world and in our lives, you don’t need to add to it. All I ask is to be here for the right reasons and not the wrong one.

Just come and train and leave the rest to me.

Thank you.
